St Louis Medical Jobs Created by HIT Funding

A new round of funding meant to support the transition to electronic medical records will help create hundreds of new St Louis medical jobs.

St. Louis Community College recently received $817,194 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding to train 300 healthcare workers during the next two years. STLCC is one of 17 institutions participating in the Midwest Community College Health Information Technology Consortium.

Led by Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio, the consortium is part of a nationwide effort to adhere to the HITECH Act, which requires that all American citizens have an electronic medical record by 2014.

St Louis Nursing Jobs

St Louis nursing jobs have a lot to offer if you’re looking for a healthcare career in Missouri.

The healthcare and social assistance sector has increased from accounting for 10 percent of Missouri’s employment during 1990 to accounting for 12 percent of the state’s employment during 2006. During that time period, the sector added 97,000 new jobs throughout the state, according to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center.

Nursing jobs in particular have been a strong driver of healthcare growth throughout Missouri. Between 2000 and 2004, nursing positions accounted for more than 11 percent of the total job growth in the healthcare sector, with more than 2,000 nursing jobs created during that period.
