Milwaukee Nursing Jobs Get New Degree Options

Those with Milwaukee nursing jobs looking to advance their careers now have a new training option.

Herzing University Online recently announced that it will soon offer two Master of Science in Nursing degree programs and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. All three degree programs are meant to help talented nurses gain advanced degrees and fill important roles in the healthcare industry.

“Our online MSN and BSN degree programs are designed for busy nursing professionals to advance their careers through convenient online classes that give them the flexibility to fit classes around their work and family schedules,” HUO Campus President Dr. Todd Rickel said.

Milwaukee Construction Jobs Decline 18.8 Percent Over the Year

As more jobs were lost on a monthly and yearly basis and the area’s unemployment rate continued to climb, Milwaukee construction jobs saw the biggest yearly decline in employment.

During January, the Milwaukee area’s unemployment rate increased from 8.6 percent to 9.6 percent, following an increase from 8.4 percent during December 2009. The most recent increase places the area’s rate just below the national unemployment rate of 9.7 percent.

The Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis area had a total non-farm employment of 781,600 workers during January, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 799,000 workers during December and a 4.8 percent decrease from last year.

Milwaukee Jobs WI See Business Activity Decrease

A report that measures the success of Milwaukee jobs WI, especially those in blue-collar industries, has shown a decline in the area.

A new report from the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee found that business activity in the Milwaukee area dropped during October. The main cause of the decline was a decrease in blue-collar employment and manufacturing production levels.

The report found that the business barometer slipped to 50 during October from 58 during September, during which time the business barometer was at a 20-month high. As an index above 50 indicates expansion and an index below 50 indicates contraction, Milwaukee’s current number shows neither.
