There are many opportunities for those looking for Portland education jobs.

The education industry, along with healthcare, is one of the few throughout the country that has continued to add jobs despite the current economic recession. The education industry in Portland is no different as it has seen a monthly and yearly increase in employment.

The Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton area’s education and health services industry employed 137,100 workers during October, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 134,100 workers during September and a .6 percent increase from last year.

Jobs in Atlanta Georgia to See More Cuts than Hires

More employers plan to cut jobs in Atlanta Georgia next quarter than plan to hire, but the majority of companies plan to maintain staffing levels. Visit http://atlanta.jobing.com to learn more.

The most recent Employment Outlook Survey from Manpower Inc. found that only 7 percent of employers plan to make new hires during Q1 2010. At the same time, 9 percent of employers plan to cut jobs, while 79 percent expect to make no changes to staffing levels.

The number of employers planning to hire next quarter is unchanged from those who planned to hire this quarter. However, the number of employers planning to cut jobs is a slight decrease from the 12 percent who planned to do so this quarter.

Tucson Construction Jobs Loss Among Worst in Nation

The high number of Tucson construction jobs lost during the last year places the city among the worst in the nation for employment in the industry.

A recent report from the Associated General Contractors of America ranked Tucson 326th in the country for construction employment, tied with Phoenix for the lowest ranking among cities in Arizona. From October 2008 to October 2009, Tucson lost 5,400 construction jobs, or 25 percent of employment in the industry.

During October, Tucson’s construction industry employed 15,800 workers, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, which is down from 16,200 workers during September. The Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale area’s construction industry employed 101,400 workers during October, which is down from 103,100 workers during September.

Jobs in Dallas TX Among Best for Small Business

Small business jobs in Dallas TX are among the best in the nation.

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council recently released “Small Business Survival Index 2009: Ranking the Policy Environment for Entrepreneurship Across the Nation.”

The report – which compares the competitiveness of states based on regulatory costs, government spending, property rights, healthcare and energy costs – ranked Texas among the top three states.

Baltimore City Jobs Added

Even though the city’s unemployment rate slightly increased, more Baltimore city jobs were added during October. Visit http://baltimore.jobing.com for more information on Baltimore city jobs.

During October, the Baltimore-Towson area saw its unemployment rate increase from 7.5 percent to 7.7 percent, following a decrease from 7.6 percent during September. Despite the increase, the area’s current rate was still lower than the national unemployment rate at the time of 10.2 percent.

The Baltimore area had a total non-farm employment of 1,289,200 workers during October, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 1,279,700 workers during September, but a 2.2 percent decrease from last year.

Fort Lauderdale Jobs with Virgin America

The arrival of a new airline to the area will help create Fort Lauderdale jobs.

Virgin America Airlines recently debuted service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. That move will not only create several new jobs in the area, but also will result in more than $250,000 per year in revenue for the airport.

“The decision to make Fort Lauderdale the newest destination in the airline’s network is a testament to the investments made in our airport and the strong tourism economy of our region,” Broward County Mayor Ken Keechl said. “The move to provide new nonstop service will create jobs, stimulate tourism and improve service for local travelers.”
