There is a "national" preception of an employer, like Wal-Mart, for example, but the local Wal-Mart store also has a local "brand."
If the local Wal-Mart manager and staff build the reputation as a good fair place to work, and the 250 local employees echo these sentiments, they will have a good flow of qualified applicants. Conversely, national companies can invest millions on branding their companies as great places to work, but indifferent or "bad" local management can undo all that investment.
