who has the longest…list
You know what? I’m just going to say it, because this is getting ridiculous.
Hey, recruiting bloggers! STOP FREAKING SPAMMING ME! I’ve already voted, and if you’re the kind of person who is sending mass emails to bloggers you barely know to get them to vote for you, I probably wouldn’t vote for you anyway.
I’ve gotten multiple emails from people flagrantly violating mass email best practices, and voting has only been open for one day. I agree with Bob Wilson, that this is supposed to be a way to recommend blogs that are useful or worth reading some way. It’s not a schlong-measuring contest over who has the largest email list, and it frustrates me to see it turning in to one.
I’m going to take this a step farther:
If I receive a vote-begging spam from a blogger I’ve already voted for, I’m going to contact Jason Davis (who has been an absolute saint in putting all this together only to have it abused this way) and ask to have my vote stricken from that blog.

Thanks Tiffany. Poor Jason … it seems the old adage that no good deed goes unpunished is true in this case.
Best wishes!

I’m one of the judges for “Best Blog” and I won’t be voting for anyone that has been lobbying for votes. So there!
The true best blogs should not have to ask for votes to win. Great content speaks for itself. The fact that Jason provided a link to the nominated blog is more than enough. I find the begging distasteful. Sounds like I am not the only one.

Tiffany
Going forward I am stating here that I am not going to shill with bloggers on this contest. I do see a positive in bringing people outside of the community to bring them to at realize such a community such as ours exists.
I just came back from training at a large corporation and you would be surprised to know that 2 people out of 50 knew or visited a blog.
I think this contest brings in people from the outside, in fact it is what brought me in last year as a regular reader of blogs.
Tiffany has been here longer then all or most of us, so she basically can set the bench mark for what has been done before.
Thanks Tiffany
