die spammers, die

I’ve been getting slammed with trackback spam across all my blogs for the last 24 hours- I woke up this morning to find nearly 150 new ones that will have to be cleared out manually. So I have deleted the trackback script from the server until I can find a good way to prevent it from happening (disabling trackbacks in wordpress doesn’t stop the spam flood). Or, you know, until spamming becomes a capital offense akin to treason or espionage.

If you link to me, I’d totally appreciate a comment in the comment box- I’ve got a pretty good solution for spam there.

Sorry to hear about your spam problems. It seems like it really fluctuates a lot (especially in my email box)

It seems like there should be a good solution for trackback spam.

You too? Two days after that new IE zero day exploit was announced, we starting getting ten spam comments or trackbacks an hour and they’ve been pouring in ever since. Besides the noxious links to gambling, pharmaceuticals and many things that are unmentionabe, I’m seeing a lot of strange code in the comments. My guess is that onslaught of spam is related to the IE exploit and that the bad guys are trying to drive people to these questionable sites in order ensnare more victims.
