Here’s a quick tip:
When you’re calling a place of business and asking to speak to someone in particular, and the person answering the phone says, “…and where are you calling from?” it’s really just a polite way of saying, “Who are you and why does the person you’re calling want to talk to you?”
So the answer is NOT: “I’m calling from home.”

I kid you not: I receied a resumé, and although the individual looked a little too junior, I figured they might be an eager go-getter with lots of potential. Their phone presence wasn’t particularly engaging (I’m being quite generous in my wording here) - so, as a general catch-all, I asked “Tell me about what you’re doing right now - I’d like to get a snapshot of your current situation”. They replied “I’m watching a soap-opera” - it was at that point that I realized that this person was not likely placeable…
